People keep liking my inane drivel about the song, so here it is.
"Be Careful What You Ask For," off Invisible Stars. June 26, 2012. Released as a single on June 28. BUY THE ALBUM. RIGHT NOW. Not just for the name, but if you’re going to use fandom as a justification to buy something, go for it. It has a Karon song, too!
I wish I could do blends, because it still makes me sad that the Monpress fandom does not have a photomanip of Eli and Nara to that Everclear song.
You know, the one that goes:
we burn out in the dark we are are invisible stars we are a question mark be careful what you ask for
we are broken bet we never had a chance we want what we don’t have be careful what you ask for
we will never die put your hope in the sky to burn a perfect light, be careful what you ask for
Now I’m going to act like half my dash and pretend I don’t have work to do and play with dollmakers. This post brought to you by the fact that my parents just actually sent me Invisible Stars, the album, for no apparent reason except that I’d gone a month without obtaining it. And that I am too tired to make sensible words, so instead I’m posting this and then reblogging things like I usually do~
(It’s a little sad, though, that the song, which is properly Be Careful What You Ask For, is actually more fun live, as opposed to just different. But, like, barely.)
ETA: Forgot about this part! But because no one cares,
Basically everything in my life sucks right now, we all know this, no big deal. Depressed, super broke, nephritis, etc, not news, but now I am sitting here going … a lot at how it still hasn’t quite hit me that I’m going to be seeing Lit, Marcy Playground, the Gin Blossoms, Sugar Ray, Everclear and Smash Mouth in concert all in one week.
And it will actually be my second time seeing Everclear this year (and my second time in general, I’ll admit) as well as my second time seeing the Gin Blossoms. The first GB show was actually free. Similarly, Smash Mouth is free.
Plus tonight is a bunch of Zydeco stuff and my dad’s driving all the way out here to see it, which just continues to make this week kind of WTF HOW IS THIS THE SAME LIFE? Bethel Woods as a venue is a giant PITA now, but there’s so many ~memories~ there for my family. I have to pay homage to my mother’s tree from Woodstock ‘69. But I can’t take a picture, except maybe with my phone, because they restrict everything. You can’t bring your own drink. Sad.
Q. Can I get my period even though I am pregnant? A friend of a friend didn’t know she was pregnant until she was in her 5th month because apparently her periods kept coming. Are they actually periods or is this just a myth?
Yeah, it’s a good thing that this is now being passed around as information correctly. Because it’s clear that biologically no, you can’t have a period while pregnant, because you’re busy with an egg already — but if you just tell people that you won’t have a period while pregnant and never specify that you can still have bleeding that mimics a period, then it becomes “bleeding = not pregnant” and can lead to, uh, problems that we are all now familiar with I love you Shannon really.
The built in flash on the DSLR only pretends to be your friend.
UGH YES this exactly. I had Brady take it for me and was careful to set everything up just so and focus it, but I was focusing it on a doorknob, which doesn’t have things like skin which the light can make look bad. He even suggested using a giant lamp and I was just like eh whatever it’s just a quick snapshot.
No Tumblr really I don’t get it. People are reblogging me and commenting on my stuff and not following me, somehow? How do they know I’m posting it? If it’s not tags, anyway, and it’s actually mostly people I follow who don’t follow me back, which is in certain cases really intimidating.
Yay, our first fandom discussion post!! This one from iatrogenic, who says:
Brought to you (all) by the fact that rather than being a fanficcer I’m a pan-fandom roleplayer, and have three characters from this universe in my main game, and thus have ended up with a great amount of sympathy and…
Yeah, she and Adela. Both weren’t killed. Made me think for a second if I had missed a sentence (in which both were ravenously murdered), but it seems only reasonable that if two enemies here weren’t dealt with properly, they’d make an appearance in the next.
The sad thing is that Nara had good intentions. I mean, I don’t like the way she treats spirits, but she’s not “evil”.
YEP. That is part of the short version of my essays of Nara feels. She was so against Enslavement, and was kind of just given … really bad direction. She treats spirits the way the only person who ever loved her did.
Learning by example isn’t as wonderful if it’s a bad example.
I didn’t even think about Adela, though! I think I just assumed the Oserans killed her, which thinking back might have just been tricky authorial intent. Nara is damaged, and it was very clear that she wasn’t killed, and I assumed Rachel Aaron kept her around for a reason and made her sympathetic (at least to me and the people I’ve talked to IRL; I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t think she was evil) for a reason. But because I didn’t find her sympathetic (though I still liked her better than Sara, the only character I can’t find some enjoyment in except the enjoyment of disliking) I totally wrote her off as someone who might turn into a good guy.
And if that was on purpose, Ms. Aaron, you got me.
