The above article is an update. Her mother went to appeal to keep her out of the psychiatric ward and lost. She will be institutionalized because of her expression of her gender. She will be held until she conforms to male gender and then released to foster care, not her mother who was supporting her.
Please, if you haven’t signed the petition, sign it, reblog it, ask your friends to sign it. We’ve managed to get 40K signatures for a pageant model, we’ve only gotten 11K for a little girl about to have her life ruined. Lets get on the ball and spread the word.
I have been reading books on philosophy and psychology and fanfiction on the web. I’ve also been spending a lot of time reading blogs on the internet, ranging far and wide. These things have become tangled and I think they are very much related.
I didn’t read the original essay or anything because honestly stuff about technology taking over the world is really triggery for me (one of my major, longtime serious fears I have nightmares about is the singularity, I know, it’s fucked), I just read the long reply.
And I’ve got to say, I am completely bugfuck petrified of using the phone, but anytime I get a text I reply basically ASAP. Texting has made it possible for me to be able to communicate while mobile, because with my phone phobia being as bad as it is I otherwise wouldn’t be able to be contacted while out and about at all.
apparently it is time for, like, Jotunfest on my tumblr
Anyway the point was apparently due to conversations with mom and Brady both (two of the three people! I bet now everyone knows who the third is) it’s time to post a bunch of pictures of Jotuns? Cool.
Sometimes I look at the tumblr “NCLEX” tag and then I see things like the commentary on this and go yes, oh my god. I’ve gotten so many bad grades on nursing tests that way. By actually thinking. Instead of just first-instinct answering.
Desert Valley had a limited cardiac license, which means it was allowed to place stents only in emergencies, such as after heart attacks. State hospital regulators determined several months later that the San Bernardino County hospital placed Kerkes ”at great health risk” by performing the procedure without the trained staff or specialized equipment required.
Since then, in response to inspections, the hospital repeatedly pledged to follow state regulations and enforce its own policies.
Yet regulators found repeat violations when they examined the cases of another patient who died and two who were injured during cardiac care at Desert Valley.
Investigative journalism protects patients and other vulnerable populations, which is why it’s critical to keep funding it.
I wonder if they’ve ever heard of Redding Medical Center and Chae Moon. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about? Find out. Google. Read Stephen Klaidman’s “Coronary.” Something.)
Now that I have reached the thrilling conclusion and my speculation is no longer relevant: he may have been a juvenile something? He has that kind of half assedly adult plumage scrubby look going on. So maybe you were just more hip than mom and dad?
LOL yep. :D Tori/Skywater says he is an indigo bunting (and definitely male). Probably a teenager too cool for the park’s noise who just wants to chill with some human who’ll pet him and smells like chips.
I just hung out and talked to him a little longer — due to the color of the sere I’m assuming a male; parrots are the only kind of birds I know how to properly guess at a sex — and pet him a few more times. He kept fluttering his wings like he was thinking about taking off, and nosed my hand once or twice in a “that actually feels kind of nice” sort of way.
Then a motorcycle went by, which obviously most birds wouldn’t like, and this one, like any other bird may have, took off.
I cheered him on (“Yay, good job, bird!”) and went back inside to do more schoolwork and pretend like I’m actually working reception (there is no reception to work right now; when there is I will work it), after washing my hands.
I’m guessing the local bird population just really isn’t enjoying TulipFest, and needed somewhere good to hang out.
As egos collide, Black Widow—street name, Natasha Romanova—is the only character who does not throw a monstrous hissyfit. The only character to gather actionable intelligence against Loki from Loki. The character who not only literally kicks sense back into the brainwashed Hawkeye, but then absolves him of any sins performed while under the loony god’s spell.
You want fearless? When midtown Manhattan is swarming with thousands of robo-aliens, the dreaded Chitauri, Black Widow commandeers one of their slippery aero-sleds and flies it to steal Loki’s glowing phallic scimitar so as to save the world so Iron Man can blow up the aliens.
From an article about the reviews downplaying/ignoring the importance of Black Widow in the film, and the role of women in action in general. (via honeyspider)
(Rue adds: Hey, Circe wrote the original post! I didn’t read the article, I’m just reblogging it because Natasha. Even if in the cinematic universe it is spelled ‘Romanoff.’)
Be aware that the things inside our heads are very, very real to us. They might seem utterly irrational and ridiculous to you and sometimes they might frustrate you, but saying that doesn’t help us; taking what we’re saying seriously and finding a way to help us work through it helps us.
Admitting when you’re in over your head helps us. Because, hey, we get it. Crazy sucks for us sometimes and it sucks for you sometimes, too. Unfortunately, we can’t take a break from it. But you can, and you should if you’re endangering yourself or others. Just as we need our own spaces with other mentally ill people to talk about the issues that affect us, you need spaces with fellow allies to talk about your own issues; and you need your own support system, because a burned-out ally helps no one.
